Visa Options

Choose the visa that fits your stay

A VOA tops out at 60 days and suits holidays only. For longer, choose before you arrive (Permenkumham No. 22 of 2023).

  • C6 Social-Cultural

    Family visits and social or non-profit activities. 60 days, extendable to 180. About IDR 2,000,000; sponsor required.

  • C310 Business

    Meetings, market research and conferences — no local income. 60 days, extendable.

  • C312 Work KITAS

    Employment with an Indonesian company, with RPTKA and work permit. 6 or 12 months, renewable.

  • C313 & C314 Investor

    1- or 2-year KITAS for investors holding a director or commissioner role.

  • C316 Retirement

    For retirees who meet the age and financial criteria.

  • C317 Family

    For British citizens married to Indonesians or joining a KITAS holder.

Requirements

What long-stay applications need

Documents vary by visa. These are the common core.

  • Passport

    6+ months beyond your stay for C6; 18 months for most KITAS.

  • Colour photo

    Recent, on a white background.

  • Proof of funds

    At least USD 2,000 for C6; higher for investor or retirement KITAS.

  • Sponsor letter

    Mandatory for C6 and every KITAS, from an Indonesian individual or company.

  • Onward ticket

    Required for C6 visas.

  • Supporting papers

    Marriage, company or retirement documents, depending on the visa.

e-Visas are issued online, typically in 3–5 working days. KITAS approvals usually take 7–14 working days once ministries have signed off.

Staying Compliant

Extensions are never automatic

A C6 visa extends at an immigration office such as Imigrasi Denpasar, up to 180 days in total. KITAS permits run for one or two years and renew annually — always before expiry.

Overstaying is a serious offence: IDR 1,000,000 a day, with deportation and travel bans possible. KITAS sponsors play a key role in renewals.

Common long-stay mistakes

  • Relying on a VOA

    Repeated VOA extensions cannot support genuine long-term plans.

  • Late extensions

    Missing a renewal date leads straight to overstay penalties.

  • Incomplete documents

    Missing papers cause long delays or rejection.

  • No valid sponsor

    Mandatory for C6 and all KITAS — operating without one is a breach.

  • Outdated information

    Rules change. Check current sources or an expert advisor.
